VITA TAX INFO SESSION
Tax season is coming up!
Want to prepare real tax returns this spring? Come to our volunteer info session.
Thursday, October 22 4–6 PM Commons 329 Free pizza
UMBC VITA prepares tax returns, for free, for people in Baltimore County who can't afford a preparer. Volunteers work Saturdays from February to April and sit with real clients starting their first Saturday. Every first-year volunteer is paired with a returner.
At the session we'll explain the four roles: preparer, quality reviewer, greeter and marketing. Preparers and reviewers do about 15 hours of training and then take the IRS certification exam. You don't need any tax background.
To hold a seat at January training, finish Blackboard Module 1 by early December. We'll show you how at the session.
