Check out open opportunities at the Friends Community School!
Friends Community School (FCS), a purposeful and joyful institution for young learners. Grounded in Quaker values, FCS fosters an inclusive, respectful, and engaging environment where students celebrate childhood, enjoy experiential learning, and develop into lifelong learners. Through hands-on experiences and a curriculum that prioritizes deep learning over rote memorization, FCS students are encouraged to explore big questions and seek meaningful connections.
Partnership and community are central to FCS's mission. Students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, members of Adelphi Friends Meeting, and Trustees collaborate to uphold the school's core values and ensure that students develop into courageous, compassionate individuals who embrace intellectual and moral education. At FCS, "Friends" and "Community" are not just words but lived experiences that enrich the educational journey.
In order to provide equal employment and advancement opportunities to all individuals, we actively seek faculty and staff of varied backgrounds and encourage them to share their unique gifts to cultivate a rich educational experience. We strive to create a learning environment that exposes students to the value and breadth of differences, informs their perspective, and prepares them to shape the world.
FCS is committed to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive educational community and does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or national or ethnic origin.
We believe that each and every employee contributes directly to FCS’s growth and success.
Diversity and Inclusion
Friends Community School is committed to fostering an equitable and inclusive educational environment where all individuals are valued and respected. We embrace and celebrate diversity across various dimensions, including race, ethnicity, culture, ability, religion, gender identity and expression, sexuality, family form, and socioeconomic status. Our community is dedicated to empowering individuals to advocate for themselves and others, centering historically marginalized voices, teaching responsible community engagement, integrating social justice into all aspects of school life, dismantling systems of exclusion, and inspiring pride and confidence while respecting the dignity of others. Through these commitments, our students learn to identify and address injustices, envision a caring and just community, and become agents of positive change for the future.
