Dear UMBC Community,
As we approach a well deserved winter break, we want to share two important updates: information about campus operations during the holiday closure and winter session reopening, as well as a brief reminder to check your UMBC emergency alert subscription.
Auxiliary Services Winter Hours
Dining Services
All dining locations will be closed from Wednesday, December 24, through Thursday, January 1.
Starbucks in the University Center will be open on Friday, January 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Additional dining venues will reopen on Monday, January 5. For a full list of hours by location, please visit the Dining Services hours page.
In addition to mobile ordering from on-campus venues through Grubhub, we encourage you to explore local restaurants near campus using the Grubhub app. Retriever Dollars may be used for pickup or delivery orders.
UMBC Bookstore
The Bookstore will be closed from Wednesday, December 24, through Sunday, January 4.
Beginning Monday, January 5, the Bookstore will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
Retriever Activity Center (RAC)
The RAC will close early on Thursday, December 18, at 2 p.m. and will be closed for winter break from Friday, December 19, through Saturday, January 3.
The RAC will reopen on Sunday, January 4, at noon.
Retriever Card Center and Mail Services
The Retriever Card Center and Mail Services will be closed from Wednesday, December 24, through Thursday, January 1.
They will be open on Friday, January 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be no campus mail deliveries on this day, but departments with urgent items may visit the front counter during operating hours.
Regular campus mail routes will resume on Monday, January 5. Beginning that day, hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with weekend closure.
Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena
The Box Office will be open Monday, December 22, and Tuesday, December 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and closed December 24 through December 28.
It will reopen Monday, December 29, through Wednesday, December 31, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and then close again from January 1 through January 4.
Emergency Alert Subscription Reminder
UMBC uses Omnilert to send time sensitive emergency and weather alerts by text message and email. We recently identified that some subscriptions expired automatically without notice due to an outdated system setting.
Even if you believe you are enrolled, we encourage all community members to take a moment to check your Omnilert subscription status and opt back in if needed to ensure you receive important campus safety and weather notifications.
