The Green Dot program is a violence prevention and bystander intervention program launching here at UMBC. The goal of the program is to engage a critical mass of our community in a behavior change where violence will not be tolerated and the end result will be a reduction in violence. Have you ever been in a situation where you saw something and knew it was not right and wanted to do something and you were unsure what to do? The Green Dot teaches the skills to be an active bystander and react to a situation that has the potential for violence. Because we know that interpersonal violence happens, it is important for everyone to have the knowledge, awareness and skills to address the issue. The Green Dot program empowers those who are trained to do the right think for themselves, their neighbor, classmate, teammate or friend. The Green Dot slogan is "No one has to do everything, everyone has to do something." Let's work together to create a culture at UMBC where we do not accept violence and look out for each other.
All events, groups, organizations, and centers are open for full participation by all individuals regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or any other protected category under applicable federal law, state law, and the University's nondiscrimination policy.
