Required PAW Training: New Procurement Workflows & Process Updates
UMBC is launching a new process within the PAW procurement system for all non-catalog purchases, contract requests, and software/cloud services requests. The new process will go live on October 5, 2026.
To prepare for this change, two training sessions will be offered on September 15 and September 17. Attendance is strongly recommended for all UMBC PAW users assigned to the Requester or Approver roles.
What Will Be Covered
The training will provide an overview of the new PAW workflow and several important updates, including:
- New Procurement Workflow - Learn how to submit and approve non-catalog purchases, contract requests, and software/cloud services requests under the new process.
- PO Change Orders - Learn about the new process that will allow changes to be made to purchase orders for non-catalog items after they have been issued, providing greater flexibility when adjustments are needed.
- Accounts Payable & PAW - Staff from Accounts Payable will review common PAW actions and processes related to the payment side of PAW, helping users better understand what happens after a purchase order is issued.
- Software & Cloud Services - Staff from the Division of Information Technology (DoIT) will provide important information regarding the acquisition and use of software and cloud services, including considerations that should be addressed before making these types of purchases.
Who Should Attend?
Attendance is highly recommended for all UMBC PAW users in the Requester and Approver roles. Users are encouraged to attend one of the two sessions to ensure they are prepared for the new processes before they go live on October 5.
This session will be recorded and made available for those who are unable to attend the live session.
