A Visionary’s Perspective on the Arts at UMBC
Curious about how the arts will expand and thrive in academia? David Yager, President of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, will inspire us to think futuristically about the potential and value of an arts education at UMBC.
Formerly a distinguished professor and chair of the Department of Visual Arts at UMBC, Yager founded and directed the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture, the Imaging Research Center, the graduate program in Intermedia and Digital Arts, and the Innovation and Design Lab (a collaboration with the Johns Hopkins Medical Institution). Later, Yager served as Dean of the Arts at the University of California Santa Cruz before moving to his present position as President of the University of the Arts.
Admission is free and free parking is available immediately adjacent to the Performing Arts and Humanities Building in Lot 8.
