Quick & Easy Strategies for Incorporating Active Learning into Your Courses √ §
An FDC Workshop
Are you interested in engaging students in active learning exercises during class, but wonder how to find the time to prepare the activities and optimize class time? While there are entire formally structured pedagogies that can be used to redesign a course (e.g., team-based learning), it’s possible to design and incorporate active learning strategies into your course without an entire course redesign. As a bonus, you might even have more insight into where students are before the first major exam or project, improving your ability to address questions and improving students’ performance. In this workshop, we’ll share a few suggestions of low-prep active learning activities, and you’ll have a chance to work through and discuss how you might incorporate those into your class, so you’ll leave with something immediately actionable.
Lunch will be provided to all registered participants who also confirm their attendance a week in advance, please click “Sign Up” above to reserve your seat for this session. Please email fdc@umbc.edu to note any dietary restrictions (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, food allergies, etc.) by Tuesday, October 13.
