Welcome Retrievers! We are looking forward to connecting with you. Read on to learn about three ways you can get involved with the Center for Democracy and Civic Life this fall.
First: Click the attachment below, or view our myUMBC calendar here, for a list of upcoming Center for Democracy and Civic Life events and opportunities. Opportunities over the course of the next month include our Welcome Week Open House on September 1, the inaugural meeting of our new First Connect program on September 12 (for students in their first semester of college), and the Dinner with Friends conversation program on September 23.
Second: Many Center for Democracy and Civic Life programs create opportunities for UMBC community members to have meaningful conversations with each other about topics that are important to them. What would you like to talk about this year? Your thoughts on topics or issues you'd like to discuss at these events will inform our planning. Please enter your thoughts here by September 8, 2023.
Third: Looking to make an impact in your community, but don't know where to start? Center for Democracy and Civic Life staff members often consult with UMBC students, faculty, staff, and alumni about their goals and strategies for pursuing social change on campus and beyond. This year, we will be hosting weekly office hours for anyone who wants to connect with us about your ideas and aspirations. To sign up for a spot, visit tinyurl.com/CivicLifeOfficeHours. If none of the available times work for you, feel free to send an email to civiclife@umbc.edu to set up another time.
