Guess what?!? It's ADVISING SEASON!

Registration for Spring 2026 is right around the corner  – as early as next week for some students –  which means that you will want to plan to meet with your assigned major advisor ASAP in order to discuss your academic plan and receive advising clearance. 

Keep in mind that advising is MANDATORY every semester and must be completed prior to registration for the upcoming school term. 

Check your myUMBC email (sent on or around October 2nd) for your advisor assignment and further instructions.

Advisor assignments can also be found via the CNMS Advising website here (by major) and via your myUMBC Profile.

Newly or recently declared life science majors who do not have a listed advisor assignment should contact CNMSAdvising@umbc.edu for support. 

NOTE**: The SPRING 2026 Schedule of Classes went LIVE TODAY (10/20). You can begin reviewing course/schedule options right away however you will want to take note of your earliest registration date/time (based on earned credits). A comprehensive chart for all registration dates/times can be found here. Initial registration times for undergraduate students will begin as early as October 28th for students who have earned 120 credits or more and will continue in descending earned credit order through to November 14th when all continuing students are eligible. You can verify your specific date/time for registration via your myUMBC account. **

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT***: Please take note that this upcoming semester marks a change in course numbering among introductory courses in Biology. Effective immediately, BIOL 142 will be renumbered to BIOL 140 and there will no longer be an enforced sequencing between 140 and 141. Additional, detailed information can be found HERE and be sure to follow up with your assigned advisor if you have any lingering questions or concerns. 

WINTER 2026 REGISTRATION began on October 13th. Advising is not mandatory for winter registration however you will want to discuss your plans with your assigned advisor in order to confirm accurate Spring 2026 course suggestions. If you intend to take courses at another institution during this time you will first need to complete a Verification of Transferability Form at least three weeks PRIOR to your registration elsewhere.
