Just a reminder, The Human Research Protections and Integrity office will be hosting a webinar on 2/23/2026 at 12pm, for all Faculty and Staff who will be serving as a faculty advisor on Student led Human Subjects Research.
We invite all UMBC faculty and staff who have students conducting human subjects research to join us to discuss the roles and responsibilities of advising students' Institutional Review Board (IRB) proposal applications and the ins and outs of being an advisor on an IRB protocol!
Here is what to expect during this session...
- An explanation of what faculty advisors are actually agreeing to,
- How to avoid common obstacles (including non-compliance),
- Required CITI training,
- Protocol and research timeline
At the end of this session there will be time for some Q&A. Please feel free to comment with questions ahead of time to be answered during the current or future sessions. If you have questions that pertain to a specific proposal or IRB protocol, please email irb@umbc.edu.
