Politics Over Dinner: How to Talk About Issues That Matter
A Critical Social Justice Event
The dinner table is often a place that gets assumed to be neutral ground where we practice being civil with each other. In doing so we lose a place to practice having important conversations about things that matter, with people that matter. Join members of our campus community for dinner, reflection, and conversation about how politics show up in our everyday lives. The goal isn’t to reach consensus but to learn how to share/communicate our beliefs and learn to hear others.
This is event is part of Critical Social Justice(CSJ) , a campus-wide initiative dedicated to deepening our collective understanding of equity, inclusion, and community care. Through panels, workshops, and creative programming, CSJ Week invites students, staff, and faculty to engage in meaningful conversations about justice and belonging within and beyond the university. This years theme is "the personal is political" highlighting the ways that we can be both part of the problem and part of the solution to healing our unjust society.
