Take the Guesswork Out of Weighted Grades
Learn and explore how to use a dynamic, user friendly tool
Have you or your students questioned how the weighted grading in Blackboard is calculating grades, even when there are pending or upcoming assignments that haven’t been accounted for?
In this workshop, we will explore the use of a spreadsheet tool to simulate and manage weighted grades, providing faculty with a dynamic and user-friendly method to assess and communicate student progress. Participants will receive a copy of this spreadsheet tool to use!
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Use the Gradebook Simulator Tool to check a student’s running weighted total
- Verify weighted grade calculations in Blackboard
- Communicate weighted total progress to students
Faculty interested in attending this webinar should come prepared with a:
- Basic understanding of weighted grading and its purpose in their course(s)
- Detailed course syllabus, including information about the grading system and weight distribution for individual and/or categories of graded items
This session will be facilitated by Laura Wyatt, Instructional Design Specialist.
Please note that this workshop will not cover the steps to set up your weighted gradebook in Blackboard. For more information, please view our Gradebook FAQ.
