Facilities Management is pleased to announce that construction activities related to the University Center Roof and Biology Roof will begin on Tuesday, May 31st, 2022. The project consists of replacing the roof at both buildings. This work will proceed through August 2022.
Construction fencing will be installed around the construction area for the duration of the project. The fencing will move as the project moves beginning with Biology and then moving to University Center. The fencing will impact pedestrian walkways by restricting the paths to pedestrian access only.
During portions of the University Center work the pedestrian access will be closed along 220' for approximately 2 weeks. This will occur during late July into August. Signage will direct pedestrians around these closures, via accessible routes. Any changes or additional information will be communicated through the myUMBC Facility Management Group and other appropriate methods.
Please see the attached diagram depicting the extents of the work and impacts to campus described above.
Accessibility is part of the design process, and we work in partnership with Accessibility and Disability Services which supports faculty, staff, students and visitors with disabilities. If you have a concern about accessibility, or want to inquire about a disability-based accommodation, please do so through their website.
Thank you for your patience as we work to maintain and enhance the UMBC campus.
