Retriever Integrated Health Summer 2023 Groups and Workshops
This summer, RIH is offering students the opportunity to participate in a counseling group or workshop to help build skills as they navigate summer courses or prepare for the Fall 2023 semester.
You've Got This Group is a 4-week program based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy. It is intended to help students develop the tools they need to cope with some of the challenges they experience daily. The program utilizes evidence-based skills and strategies designed to reduce symptoms of distress and increase positive coping strategies. Topics include mindfulness, thought as thought, emotion as emotion, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Anxiety Toolbox is a three-session workshop series focused on helping students understand anxiety symptoms and build skills to manage them. Modules are as follows: 1) understanding anxiety, 2) introducing a method for slowing down and disentangling the experience of anxiety, and 3) developing alternative responses to anxiety. Students will leave the workshop with an individualized plan for managing anxiety. Students can join this workshop at any time following completing a triage appointment.
The first step to joining any group is to complete a triage appointment. Please call 410-455-2542 to schedule this brief assessment. During your triage appointment, please tell your provider you are interested in joining a group or workshop and which group or workshop you want to join.
For general group questions, please secure message our Group Coordinator, Lauren Mirzakhalili, via the patient portal: http://myretrievercare.umbc.edu/.
All summer groups and workshops will be held virtually. Due to licensure laws, group members need to be in Maryland to participate in a group. Workshop participants may be out of state for the workshop but must be in Maryland for the triage appointment.
