August 13, 2021: Employees may review more information regarding temporary alternative work arrangements via https://hr.umbc.edu/temporary-alternative-work-arrangements/
Message of 8/11/2021: As the process for fall 2021 return to campus continues and departments finalize alternative work arrangements, the Human Resources (HR) department has made enhancements to the Electronic Timesheet (ETS). These enhancements will allow us to capture employee work location and workweek type approved for alternative work arrangements, and provide leadership with information that will inform decisions for the spring 2022 semester and beyond. The new ETS options are as follows:
Work Location: Workweek Type:
o On-Site o Regular Work Schedule
o Hybrid-Telework o Flexible Work Schedule
o Remote Work o Compressed Workweek (nonexempt staff only)
Regular faculty, staff and contingent II staff employees may store the work location and workweek type options in the Preference Page of the ETS to pre-populate on the biweekly ETS, or make the selection once the ETS has been generated. Employees coded with an ETS status of On-Demand will be able to select the work location and workweek type on the main ETS page because they do not have access to the Preference Page.
The system will default both fields as Not Specified until a valid option is selected or the Preference Page has been updated. In the event an option is not selected, the employee will be prompted to make a valid selection upon submission; thus, starting with the ETS for the period beginning 8/15/2021, a timesheet will not route through the submission process with values of Not Specified. Additionally, timesheet approvers will have the ability to change the values on the timesheet if the reported values are not accurate.
The enhancements to the ETS are now in effect. You will need to clear your browser's cache before accessing ETS.
The Electronic Timesheet guides have been updated with the new values, instructions for setting up the workweek type and work location in the preference page, as well as screenshot examples of the updated ETS. Please share this information with faculty and staff in your department. Questions regarding the updates may be emailed to Sherrell McNamara (mcnamara@umbc.edu).
