RE: Classification Requests in Preparation of Anticipated COLA/Merit
As part of the anticipated COLA/Merit review process, the Human Resources Department will institute a temporary freeze on reclassification requests/actions (with the exception of reviews for vacant positions for recruitment and operationally critical staff retention requests) beginning Monday, May 15, 2023. Requests will be accepted again on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. The freeze notification will be part of the final FY 2023 UMBC Salary Guideline (as in previous years). The Salary Guidelines will be posted as soon as they are available.
Class/Comp requests will be accepted through Friday, May 12th at 5:00 Eastern, after that they will be returned to the department/division for resubmission starting Wednesday, July 5th. We strongly recommend that supervisors refrain from changing the duties and responsibilities of staff during the freeze period given that we cannot process retroactive actions.
Classification/Compensation staff will continue their review and processing requests submitted prior to the freeze period, and will contact department liaisons with any questions related to those requests.
