When asking an instructor to design course content accessibly, the first answer they frequently get is “I have never had a student who needed it, why should I?” or they respond with “disability services can do it when a student needs it.”
In the past, the reactive accommodation mindset has been prevalent when it comes to accommodating students with disabilities. When it comes to technology, the reactive response does not always work, and planning is warranted.
