Cities on Speed: Mumbai Disconnected
UMBC's Off Campus Student Services Documentary Showing
Monday, April 14, 2014 · All Day
UMBC’s Off-Campus Student Services is having its 2nd annual documentary screening on April 14th in the SportsZone in The Commons at these times: 12PM-1:20PM, 3PM- 4:20PM, 5PM-6:20PM.
The documentary “Cities on Speed: Mumbai Disconnected” is about the fast-paced development of India and the problems that inherently parallel that development, specifically related to urban planning, traffic congestion, socioeconomic issues, and pollution. It’s a great film and would tie-in well with the content of some of the LLC courses because of its exposure to cultural/language diversity.
A free popcorn bar and refreshments will be provided.
Interested students are invited to attend the follow-up event, the “UMBC Transit & Parking Forum”, on April 16th from 12-1:30pm in the UC room 312 where a free lunch will be provided. This forum will feature a panel of UMBC sustainable transportation leaders discussing UMBC’s sustainability initiatives as well as answering student questions (here is the chance for students to voice concerns about parking and Transit). Students could offer a reaction to the documentary as well.
See attached flyer for more information about both events.
