Manpreet Singh, ME Ph.D. candidate from Dr. Liang Zhu's Bioheat Transfer Laboratory is working with Dr. Dario Rodrigues, a Radiation Oncologist at Maryland Proton Treatment Center and Dr. Zeljko Vujaskovic, a Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Maryland School of Medicine in the summer of 2019.

He will primarily perform computational modelling to assist thermal therapy practitioners including Radiation Oncologists, Medical Oncologists, Dosimetrists, Radiation Therapists, Surgical Oncologists and Medical Physicists. He will design thermotherapy applicators and perform 3D simulations of temperature fields in deep, interstitial, and superficial tissue regions to optimize thermal therapy treatments.

This research is important, as it will provide 3D images of temperature profiles during thermotherapy treatment which facilitate Hyperthermia Treatment Planning and training of thermotherapy professionals. This research will highly contribute towards thermal oncology practices across the United States.
