The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships is hiring Scholarship Assistants. We are looking for focused and detail-oriented undergraduate students to fill vacancies as early as November 18th. The position does require on campus availability.
This is a Federal Work Study eligible (FWS) position, and will allow you to work on your communication and problem solving skills as well as provide great work experience. Students who are hired may continue with our office until they complete their undergraduate degrees.
What is the role of a Scholarship Assistant?
Scholarship Assistants are an integral part of the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. They assist thousands of students and families and are often the first point of contact when a student or parent calls, emails or visits the office with a scholarship inquiry. Some of the duties include:
- Providing customer service
- Answering phone calls
- Responding to emails sent by students and parents
- Accepting documents and logging them to student accounts
- Connecting students with appropriate campus resources
- Instructing students and parents on how to navigate myUMBC, the website, Scholarship Retriever, etc.
- Other duties as assigned

*Please note that this position is only available to current UMBC undergraduate students, that are U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents. Graduate students are not eligible. This is a Federal Work Study (FWS) eligible position.
This position pays minimum wage, which is currently $15/hour.
