The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships is looking for focused, detail-oriented undergraduate students to join our team as Scholarship Assistants beginning April 6th, 2026. If you're looking for a convenient on-campus role that builds professional communication and problem-solving skills, we want to hear from you!
Why should I apply?
- Pay: Minimum wage, which is currently $15/hour
- Convenience: Located on campus, with a flexible 10 hour weekly minimum
- Federal Work Study (FWS) eligible position.
- Longevity: You may continue with our office until you graduate, and you are eligible to work year-round (fall, winter, spring, and summer semesters).
- Training: No previous scholarship experience is required; we provide the training!
What is the role of a Scholarship Assistant?
As a Scholarship Assistant, you are the face of our office. You'll help students and families navigate the scholarship process via phone, email, and in-person visits. Key duties include:
- Providing excellent customer service to the UMBC community
- Assisting peers in navigating Scholarship Retriever and myUMBC
- Managing sensitive documents and student accounts
