About the Presenter:
Simone Loysen (They/He) is a Junior English Major on the Communication and Technology Track at UMBC. Outside of UMBC, they play ice hockey and love to crochet! They believe that leadership is the act of guiding someone towards a bright future. Whether through official leadership (being in SGA, LPF, president of a club, etc.) or unofficial leadership (helping a friend, teaching a sibling, etc.), they believe that the act of leading directly impacts other people's lives for the better. Their goals as a Leadership Peer Facilitator (LPF) are to gain experience leading workshops and become able to clearly articulate leadership topics to others. Outside of being an LPF, they are a part of many clubs including the LGBTQ+ Student Union and UMBC Crafters and they also play for the UMBC Ice Hockey Team!
About the Leadershops:
Queer Leadership: This session will empower the queer community at UMBC towards becoming strong leaders. Attendees will explore the importance of authentic leadership, and learn how to use identity to strengthen leadership skills.
Navigating Leadership in the New Normal: We have seen many unforeseen challenges, and its impact to the world as we knew it. This session will address leadership in the dreaded Zoom call as well as leadership for students that aren't as engaged as they may have been in the past.
