Dear Colleagues,
As all of us adjust to the rapidly changing and unprecedented response to the escalating COVID-19 pandemic, we appreciate all you have been doing to help our students and our colleagues through a very challenging situation where the safety and health of all our community members is of paramount importance.
Given the rapidly changing situation, USM guidance, and yesterday’s announcement of significant State-wide efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we can no longer continue with our normal laboratory, research and studio operations.
Consequently, we have issued a Directive for On-Campus Research During COVID-19 to be effective immediately. We are requesting everyone to follow this Directive as we have to move rapidly to protect our colleagues, our students, and our research facilities.
We understand that these measures will have a significant impact on research access and productivity (including sponsored research) and on your scholarly and creative activities.
We are continuously monitoring guidance from funding agencies and are actively considering ways in which we can minimize the impact of these measures on faculty, staff, and the progression of our graduate and undergraduate students.
This information will be updated as new details become available.
We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all you again for everything you are doing and the support you are providing to all of us as we navigate this difficult time.
