Retrievers on the Move and The Monster Dash 3K

Hello UMBC Community,

We’re excited to bring back two UMBC Recreation events this semester! UMBC’s annual Monster Dash 3K on Wednesday, October 28, at noon, and the Retrievers on the Move Step Challenge, October 28 - November 18. This year, we want to make them bigger and better than ever!

We’re inviting campus departments, student organizations, Greek life, residence halls, and other campus groups to put together a team for The Monster Dash, Step Challenge or both! And the best part? You don’t have to run or walk the 3K to participate!

There are several ways to get involved:

• Form a team: Rally your coworkers, students, or organization members to represent your group at the Monster Dash or in the Step Challenge.

• Run or walk the 3K: Join the course at whatever pace works for you.

• Be a Monster Dash Spirit Squad: Cheer on participants, show off your campus spirit, and support your team from the sidelines.

• Be a course marshal: Help direct participants along the course, provide directions, and assist with traffic flow to keep the event running smoothly.

• Volunteer: Help with event-day activities, registration, the finish line, or other event needs.

• Join the fun: Come out in costume, take photos, and enjoy the festivities, even if you only have a few minutes to spare.

We’d love to see teams from across campus represented, so consider making this a fun opportunity for your department or organization to connect, get involved, and show some Retrievers spirit!

Individuals who are interested in volunteering or helping make the event a success are welcome, too. Whether you want to participate, cheer, help along the course, or lend a hand behind the scenes, there’s a place for you at the Monster Dash.
