Summer Housing Eligibility
To be eligible for residence, students must be admitted and enrolled as an undergraduate, graduate, or special non-degree seeking student at UMBC and meet one of the following conditions:
- Enrolled in at least one course each session;
- Employed by the University for the summer session; or
- Have a permanent address that is more than 30 miles from UMBC’s campus and is enrolled in a UMBC approved in-person internship in the Baltimore metro area.
Students can be assigned to either the Residential Life Apartments ($40/day) or the Residential Life Halls($35/day). For students assigned to the Residential Life Halls, a Summer Meal Plan is also required.
The Summer 14 Meal Plan - $30.83 per day / $215.81 per week.

Residential Life to Walker Avenue Transitional Housing
What is Transitional Housing? Transitional Housing is the period from the end of the Spring Semester to the start of the Walker Avenue Annual License (June 1, 2026).
Residential Life residents moving into a Walker Avenue Apartments Annual License can apply for Transitional Housing via the Summer Housing Application in the Housing Portal
Students approved for the Residential Life > Walker Avenue Apartments Transitional Housing will be charged to their UMBC Student Accounts $40/day from the end of the Spring Semester to their check-in date for Walker Avenue.
