Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,
Today we have an opportunity for our community to come together and participate in an open listening session to discuss recent events regarding sexual assault and misconduct. The session is co-organized by UMBC leadership, the Student Government Association, Graduate Student Association, We Believe You, Resident Student Association, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. It will take place in the Fine Arts Recital Hall, 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
UMBC has a strong community of individuals dedicated to critical thinking, truth, and inclusion. UMBC is also a place where communication and individual expression are part of the very fabric of the university. With our guiding principles in mind, we urge faculty to provide students who wish to participate with the opportunity to be released from commitments at that time (e.g., class, labs), as needed.
Katharine H. Cole, Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Academic Affairs
