Affording Study Abroad: Creative Funding Resources
Wednesday, October 23, 2019 · 12 - 1 PM
This session is intended for any student interested in studying abroad with
questions or concerns about funding their experience! This program will begin with an overview of grants and scholarships for study abroad programs, including general study abroad scholarships (Gilman, Boren, Diversity Abroad, Critical Language, etc.), institutional grants/scholarships, program/provider scholarships and discounts, community scholarships (honors societies, Greek Life, religious organizations), and financial aid.
We will then discuss tips and resources for writing a compelling scholarship essay. The session will conclude with a few creative funding ideas and case studies (including crowd-funding and budgeting tips). From this session, we hope that students will leave with a toolkit to seek and secure all possible funding resources to further their study abroad goals.
