UMBC's Sustainability Director was invited to serve as a peer reviwer on NASA's Equity & Environmental Justice Panel Review. The panel will meet this May to review proposals submitted in response to the NASA Research Announcement: ROSES-21 A.49 NNH21ZDA001N-EEJ.
The A.49 solicitation looks to advance progress on equity and environmental justice (EEJ) domestically through the application of Earth science, geospatial, and socioeconomic information. The solicitation focuses on three elements:
1. Landscape analyses to support characterization of EJ communities to support planning and investment decisions on EEJ
2. Community-based feasibility projects to test ways to address EEJ issues facing communities with the help of Earth science information
3. Data integration projects that combine Earth science information and socioeconomic datasets relevant to EEJ topics and communities.
