"Carpooling is more than just a way for me to save gas, I actually enjoy it more than driving alone. For two semesters I’ve been carpooling with another commuter who lives about 10 minutes from my house. At first I wanted to carpool just to save on gas, but then I started enjoying the company too - the conversation made the time go by faster and alleviated stress because we talked about classes.
I learned that carpooling can be about more than just saving gas. You can de-stress and build new friendships while helping the environment by reducing the number of cars on the road and in parking lots. I also recently found out that UMBC is encouraging carpooling as a way to conserve parking spaces and reduce our carbon emissions as a university. There will be great convenient parking reserved for carpooling commuters this spring, so it’s the perfect time to try it out for yourself!"
