“To Be” CASTING CALL
OVERVIEW: Unpaid roles available for short film "To Be", filming in the BALTIMORE area from January 17th to 24th 2027.
BRIEF PRODUCTION DETAILS:
Director: Mariana Ferreira
Producers: Amelia Blackman, Elsa Marley
Script length: 14 pages
Crew Size: 10-15 people
Shooting Dates: January 17th-24th 2027.
LOGLINE: Two long-time friends reconnect for the first time after one is hospitalized for attempting to take her own life.
AVAILABLE ROLES:
“Sara” – Lead
Female or Fem-Presenting, Age 18-25
Days needed: 7 days, with prior rehearsal as available
Hours: TBD, no more than 8 hours per day
CHARACTER BACKGROUND: Sara is by all means, broken. Her recent psychiatric hospitalization has left her more helpless than before. She feels alone and miserable. Looking to take those troubles away, she looks to alcohol, ignorance, and nihilism.

“Jake” – Lead
Male or Male-Presenting, Age 18-25
Days needed: 7 days, with prior rehearsal as available
Hours per day: TBD, no more than 8 hours per day
CHARACTER BACKGROUND: Jake seems to have everything. He got into law school, he has family and friends, and at first glance, he looks like he’s made of porcelain. But once you look
closer, you see the cracks. He holds the weight of the world on his shoulders. He relates deeply to Sara’s pain, yet, he doesn’t let anyone know how he struggles.

COMPENSATION: This is an unpaid role. All cast members will receive demo reel material of their work, production stills of them taken while on set, a copy of the completed film, and festival credit. We will be providing 2-3 meals each day, with snacks and beverages available throughout the production. You will receive IMdB credit.
