The CWIT Student Council in collaboration with ISSA, GSA, BSA, McNair, and NSBE will be hosting a Professional Development Workshop & Panel Discussion on November 10th in the Commons Skylight Room.
The workshop portion features two guest speakers both: a career coach and a career strategist who will focus on Confidence, Joy and Balance in career and professional development. The duo are co-founders of the startup Taking it Pro, that helps women achieve career and professional success by providing quality professional tools and resources, career guidance, and an alliance of remarkable women.
Our panel portion will include stories and questions posed to our four (4) remarkable panelists (see below) who will share how they were able to navigate challenges including imposter syndrome, toxic work environments and advance in their careers while working in fields where they were underrepresented minorities.
In addition to being able to ask their burning questions about navigating the behind-the-scenes of internships / jobs, attendees will be entered into a drawing for prizes such as signed copies of the speakers’ book “W.I.S.E. Rebel Moves”, books on salary negotiation, tech gear, college necessities Fall giveaways and student org swag.
OUR SPEAKERS AND PANELISTS ARE:
Jasmine Lee, Ph.D, Panelist
Dr. Jasmine Lee serves as the Director of Inclusive Excellence and Initiatives for Identity, Inclusion & Belonging at UMBC. In her professional capacity, Jasmine works with staff, faculty and students to create inclusive campus environments through direct programming and strategic student success initiatives. With her team of professional, graduate, and student staff, she works to provide a sense of belonging for underserved students through three identity-based cultural centers, and provides consultation and training for racial climate concerns and broader diversity issues for faculty and staff across campus. Dr. Lee is a scholar, practitioner, and trained intercultural dialogue facilitator supporting clients in building capacity for change around issues of race, social justice, activism, intercultural competence, and cross-cultural relationship building.
Key Accomplishments: BSW from Eastern Michigan University, MSW from the University of Michigan, Ph.D. from Michigan State University, qualified Administrator for the Intercultural Development Inventory, nationally certified trainer for Mental Health First Aid and the Green Dot Bystander Intervention program
Nanlesta Pilgrim, Ph.D, Speaker and Panelist
For the last two decades, Dr. Pilgrim has conducted HIV research among populations vulnerable to HIV in sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean and the United States. She has worked in the academic and non-profit industries prior to her current role, where she is Director of Global Implementation Science at ViiV Healthcare, the only biopharmaceutical company specializing in the development of therapies for HIV infection.

Natasha Knight, Ph.D, Speaker and Panelist
Dr. Knight is a a visionary thought leader, published author, and trusted consultant with 15+ years of experience working in the social and behavioral science industry — Dr Knight is driven by a desire to engage meaningfully with others -- contributing to the success of complex projects, programs, and processes from small, internal engagements to nationally implemented initiatives. In her professional life, she operates at the intersection of strategy and success fostering a collaborative environment built on the strengths, capabilities, and resources needed to optimize engagement and drive sustainable change in targeted populations. As a career coach -- she employs a belief that everyone deserves an opportunity to succeed. This fundamental idea has lit a fire in her to provide women of color struggling with self-confidence with the guidance they need to find and showcase their value by celebrating, affirming, and empowering their professional strengths.

Teresa Woodard, M.S ( Panelist)
Teresa Woodard is a Vice President of T. Rowe Price Group, Inc and the Head of Trading Analytics. She leads a team of analysts who deliver trading insights including transaction cost analysis to internal and external stakeholders. Teresa leads a global team and has been instrumental in enhancing T. Rowe Price’s quantitative, data driven evaluation of trading execution services across asset classes.
Teresa joined T. Rowe Price in 2001. Teresa earned a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish from Loyola University Maryland and a Master’s in Liberal Arts from the Johns Hopkins University. Teresa is the chair of T. Rowe Price’s Equity and Fixed Income Best Execution subcommittees. She is also a member of the T. Rowe Price’s Black Leadership Council and an advisory member of Amplify Voices. Teresa is a member of the National Organization of Investment Professionals.
