This program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to refresh and renew through culturally responsive self-care and wellness activities and is hosted by UMBC community members and off-campus collaborators.
Conversations about how to care for our bodies are often steeped in self-blame, body shaming, fatphobia, and Eurocentric beauty standards. How do we make sure to care for our bodies without engaging in these oppressive norms? How do we make space for our cultural backgrounds, social identities, and lived realities to be engaged in our care practices? This session will center caring for your body as a form of radical self-care.
All undergrads, grads, staff, faculty, and alumni are encouraged to attend! For any questions or suggestions for a future [Re]fresh Friday or [Free]dom Friday, please email Erin Waddles, Coordinator for Student Diversity and Inclusion at waddles@umbc.edu or The Mosaic at mosaic@umbc.edu.
