The Sweet Spot: Work-Life Balance Book Discussion
Join us for an engaging five-part book discussion on work-life balance, featuring The Sweet Spot: How to Find Your Groove at Home and Work, by Christine Carter, Ph.D. Faculty and staff colleagues are invited to examine work-life balance issues and strategies through reading and discussion of the many commitments in our personal and professional lives, and our successes and challenges in prioritizing and balancing them.
Facilitated by two seasoned professional coaches, Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, Beth Wells, and Director of Workplace Learning, OD & Wellness, Jill Wardell, the program will offer a blend of book discussion with small- and large-group conversations focused on supporting each participant’s personal and professional values and well-being.
Prior to the first session, each participant will receive a copy of the book, courtesy of the Offices of the Provost and Human Resources. Discussion of part one of the book will begin in session one.
Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all five consecutive weekly sessions (3/28, 4/4, 4/11, 4/18 and 4/25) to maximize growth. Sessions are planned as brown-bag lunches, and participants are welcome to bring their lunches.
Space is limited and registration is required. Registration deadline is Friday, March 22nd.
If you register for a workshop and your attendance plans change, please email us at hrtraining@umbc.edu.
