Race in the Workplace - Part 2 of 2
Monday, March 11, 2019 · 9 AM - 12:30 PM
We have been conditioned not to talk about race at work and sometimes not at all. Given the complex nature of this diversity element and the social implications related to it – it has become detrimental to continue to ignore the many ways that race impacts us at work.
Join critically acclaimed author, Allison Manswell, for this two-session course which will take participants through a proven approach that allows us to unpack this difficult topic and move forward in an empowering way that builds trust.
This session, co-facilitated by Allison Manswell and Brett Kirkpatrick, Doctoral Intern at the Counseling Center, dives into the detailed concepts of organizational culture shift and career development for people of color. It includes an opportunity for participants to have their questions about race answered in a safe environment.
Core concepts from the book will be hand picked by UMBC community members and explored through experiential activities and dialogue.
Session 2 will be limited to 50 participants and those who sign up for both will receive a copy of Allison's book.
