Students of all majors are invited to volunteer for the UMBC Advanced Planning Clinic, co-sponsored by UMBC Pre-Law Advising, the Sondheim Public Affairs Scholars Program, and the Erickson School of Aging Studies, in partnership with Maryland Legal Aid and the Baltimore County Bar Association.
UMBC student volunteers will be paired with volunteer attorneys to assist local seniors in completing Advance Directive forms.
An advance directive allows a person to choose who will make health care decisions on their behalf if they are ever unable to do so
- Gain hands-on experience working alongside attorneys
- Interact directly with clients
- Learn more about the importance of advance planning in elder law
- No prior legal knowledge is required - training and support will be provided!
UMBC Advanced Planning Clinic
Date: Monday, October 6, 2025
Time: There are two volunteer shifts: (1) 2:30 PM -5:00 PM and (2) 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM.
Location: UMBC’s Erickson School of Aging Studies (at the Research Park), 5523 Research Park Drive; Suite 230
To maximize the overall number of student participants, students may volunteer for one shift only. Space is limited so sign up as soon as possible!

Note: Volunteers will be required to attend (or view the recording) of one virtual training to be held on October 1, 2025. Training information will be provided in the upcoming week.
