Nutrition and Performance Eating for Student-Athletes
Professional nutritionist Leslie J. Bonci, director of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Center for Sports Medicine, gave a free presentation about performance nutrition at Father Ryan High School. Leslie serves as a consultant for sports teams and organizations at all levels, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Pirates, Milwaukee Brewers, the University of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, and has worked with Bryan Clay, 2008 Olympic gold medalist and 2004 Olympic silver medalist, Garrett Weber-Gale, 2008 two-time Olympic gold medalist, and Tara Lipinksi, 1998 Olympic gold medalist.
She has authored or co-authored three popular books and several sports medicine textbook chapters and is a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee's sports nutrition network.
