Women of Color Collective
Redefining Grassroots Activism (collab w/ Sisterhood club)
Join us in redefining grassroots activism, and learning how you can get involved!
Thursday March 14th @ 2:30-3:30 PM (snacks will be provided!)
This discussion will be co-facilitated with the Sisterhood club.
Sisterhood has been established for the purpose of providing a safe space and open discussion forum for all women of color on the UMBC campus. It is based in grassroots activism and aims to promote social justice and equity for women of color. They will be volunteering on and off of campus as well as within the city on various programs and initiatives that are centered on helping women of color and addressing the challenges they face.
***
WOCC will take place in-person in the Women's Center, biweekly throughout the Spring semester. If you would like to receive reminders and details about the meetings, please follow our myUMBC and Instagram pages.
All self-identified women and femmes of color students, staff, and faculty are welcome to share their stories and learn about others’ experiences at Women of Color Collective. This discussion-based program follows the Women’s Center Brave Space model to provide a welcoming environment and thoughtful community to engage in conversations focused on the intersections of gender and race. This group centers the experiences of women and femmes of color and is open to all individuals regardless of their sex, gender, race, ethnicity, or national origin; we request that students do not use this space for class research or interviews.
UMBC is committed to creating an accessible and inclusive environment for all students, staff, faculty, and visitors. If you have difficulties accessing any of the materials on our site or any of our events or discussions, please contact us so that we can provide an alternative format and/or remedy any accessibility challenges.
