We're Here, We're Queer, & We Refuse to Live in Fear!
Come discuss the riotous history of pride + boo the haters!
Wednesday, June 17, 2020 · 4 - 5 PM

June is Pride Month and regardless of whether there's a parade, this is a time to take stock of who we are as members of the LGBTQ+ community and where we want to be in the future.
Please note, this event is for LGBTQ identifying people; if you are an ally or identify otherwise, please consider another way to celebrate Pride Month.
In this closed discussion, we will spend some time talking about Pride's roots in social justice activism and liberatory politics. We will deconstruct the whitewashed, cis-centered narrative that is popular today in order to honor and uplift the many queer, trans, and non-binary people of color who were (and still are) fighting to ensure that we are able to live freely.
We also want to give space to discuss the harmful impact of recent hate that has been lofted at the LGBTQ community. From the impacts of targeted state violence on Black folks (and especially queer and trans Black folks) to JK Rowling's latest Twitter nonsense, we want to get on the same page and find ways to push back against the haters.
