Normalizing Community Care in Higher Ed
A Faculty & Staff Virtual Discussion
The Faculty & Staff Care Series is a space for and led by UMBC faculty & staff. This month’s virtual meet-up is an informal space to vent & exchange ideas with one another. Our topic for this month is Normalizing Community Care in Higher Ed which will be held on
Wednesday, Dec. 9th from 12-1pm.
Normalizing a culture of individualism and worthiness based on how much a person can produce is not only unsustainable… it's harmful… inequitable.. It’s unjust.
Community Care is a model of collective process, support, and accountability. Breaking through institutional structures that maintain white supremacy & capitalism is not an easy feat, but it is a necessary one.
Note, while not required, participants may be asked to read a short 5 min article(s) prior to the discussion which will serve as the foundation to our discussion. This information can be found below.
To RSVP, please click the "Going" button. Those who select “going” will also receive an email with the meeting link which is through Google Meets:
