New to Webex? Or just curious about the tools available to you? Either way, here is a quick list of tools you can use to enhance your Webex experience!
Some features are designed for Messages and some are for Meetings. A (+) will indicate a Message Feature, (-) indicates Meetings, and (*) indicates a feature for both.
1. Pinning Chats (+)
- Pin your most important or most frequented chats using the favorites feature
- Click the three dots when highlighting over a chat next to the chat and select “Add to Favorites”
2. Whiteboards (*)
- Use the Whiteboards feature to sketch out ideas with your team
- Whiteboards can be used during meetings or outside of meetings as long as you have access
3. Vidcast (+)
- Record videos with Vidcast to share in your spaces
- This can be used for creating video messages, demos, tutorials, lectures, etc.
4. Pinging/Mentions (+)
- Tag/ping people in a space using “@here”, “@all”, or you can @ a specific individual's name
- “@here” pings anyone who is currently online/active
- “@all” pings everyone in the space, regardless of whether they are online or not
5. Quiet Hours (+)
- A Quiet Hours schedule can be set in your settings under the Notifications dropdown
- This allows you to mute Webex notifications and calls that you may not want to receive notifications for outside of your working hours
6. Virtual Backgrounds (-)
- Virtual Backgrounds can be set by going into your settings page and clicking on “Background” found under the “Video” dropdown
- You can set your background to a desired photo you have or from the preset options provided by Webex
- UMBC also has some UMBC-branded backgrounds to choose from
7. Smart Audio (-)
- “Smart Audio” which can be found under the “Audio” dropdown menu in your settings
- This allows you to control how much audio your microphone will pick up when in a meeting
8. Shortcuts/Hotkeys (*)
- Keyboard shortcuts can be found and edited in your settings if you wish to customize how you navigate the Webex App
9. Breakout Rooms (-)
- Create breakout rooms to create smaller groups
- Breakout groups can be organized prior to a meeting in the meeting settings or during the meeting
10. Layout Customization (-)
- You can customize the layout of your meetings under the “Meetings” dropdown in your settings
- There is a list of checkboxes to choose from for how you want others displayed in meetings to improve your experience.
