Our Services Include:
Academic Skills Meetings – (Located in the Library) In an Academic Skills Meeting you will be able to get support with academic accountability by goal-setting, progress tracking, and follow-through. You can learn how to manage your time and build a study schedule, pick up tips for staying motivated in your courses, embrace your learning style and find the best strategies that help you specifically stay on track!
Drop - In Tutoring – (Located in the Library) For Drop – In Tutoring, no appointment is needed! Just come to the Academic Success Center, check in at the front desk, and we’ll show you where your tutor is seated. Drop – In support is available for many 100 & 200 level courses (CHEM, MATH, BIO, PHYS, STAT, and more!), as well as computer science, information systems, and computer engineering courses.
Appointment Tutoring - (Located in the Library) Appointment Tutoring is a scheduled tutoring session with no more than 3 people per session. During these sessions, you are able to ask more in-depth questions about the course material and receive support for many 100 & 200 level courses.
SI PASS – (FA 010 & Multiple Locations) Supplemental Instruction & Peer Assisted Study Sessions; it’s like a built-in study group for your class! Attend a review session to compare notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools, predict test items, and work towards mastering the course material.
Writing Center – (Located in the Library) Our writing tutors can help you with writing assignments for any class, at any stage of the writing process. All appointments are 1 - on - 1 and can be held in person, online, and asynchronously.
Academic Peer Advocacy Meetings - (Located in the Library) Academic Peer Advocacy Meetings support first- and second-year students in their transition to UMBC, making sure that you feel confident and well connected.
