We have a fantastic night of art events coming up this Thursday, April 13:
The opening reception for Glass, Oil, and Blood, the 2017 IMDA MFA Thesis Exhibition presenting the work of Melissa Penley Cormier, Ghazaleh Keshavarz, and Jaclin Paul in the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. Intermedia works on display in the exhibition include time-based works, digital photography, objects and installations. The IMDA graduate program is committed to investigating transformations of emerging artistic practices, especially those that give rise to new processes that pose unique conceptual and social challenges.
At 6 p.m. the Albin O. Kuhn Library presents A Conversation with Collector Stephen Korshak followed by a reception. Introduced to literature and art of the science fiction and fantasy genres by his father Erle Korshak, a founder of the sci-fi imprint Shasta Publishers, collector Stephen Korshak will discuss the history and context of sci-fi and fantasy illustration, and share insights about the world class collection he has thoughtfully built over several decades. The event is presented in association with the exhibition The Korshak Collection: Illustrations of Imaginative Literature on view in the gallery.
Both events are free and open to the public. Free evening parking is available immediately adjacent to the Performing Arts and Humanities Building in Lot 8.
