- The deadline to apply to present at URCAD is also Monday, February 15.
Stipends for Students with Unpaid Internships
If you have an unpaid internship or plan on pursuing one, you may be eligible for a monetary stipend. The UMBC Student Internship and Service Fund is directing their funding to give money to unpaid interns and volunteers of small businesses and nonprofits based in Maryland that have been affected by COVID-19. These stipends range from $1,500 for unpaid interns working 120+ hours this summer, to $750 for unpaid interns working 60+ hours this summer.
The eligibility for these stipends read as follows:
- GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Students must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student returning to UMBC in the fall of 2021
- Students must hold or be planning on pursuing an unpaid position with a Maryland-based small business or nonprofit the summer of 2021
If you are planning to pursue an unpaid position, you must secure one by May 1st, 2021
To apply, you must submit your resume, unofficial transcript, and a personal statement by March 14th, 2021, in UMBCworks.

Applications For The Freeman ASIA Scholarship Are Now Open!
Interested in studying abroad in East or Southeast Asia in 2022 but don't have the financial means to do so? If so, the Freeman ASIA Scholarship would be perfect for your educational exploration.
Students interested in the scholarship should apply by March 30th, 2021 and by the academic term before their study abroad program begins. Applications must be approved by your financial aid advisor and an Education Abroad Advisor before the March 30 due date.

Johns Hopkins University's Macksey National Undergraduate Symposium
The second annual Macksey National Undergraduate Symposium held by Johns Hopkins will be held virtually on April 24th and 25th of this year. This event allows all undergraduate students studying any and all areas of the humanities to gather together and share their humanities research.
Not only will students be able to present their research, but they will be able to work with Hopkins student editors to revise their work into a journal-length presentation to be added to the Macksey Journal.

China-US Scholars Program Application
During the 2021-2022 academic year, the Institute of International Education's China-US Scholars Program will be supporting students and faculty in the arts, humanities, and social sciences to teach, research, or study abroad in the US or China. This is a 5-10 month long program, which begins in the fall of 2021.
Applications for this program will be accepted from March 1st to April 15th, 2021. For more information about the program, your eligibility, and the link to submit your application, visit www.iie.org/CUSP.
Applications For The Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship Are Now Open
If you are a student that has been awarded a Pell Grant and is planning to study abroad in 2022, this scholarship can help you overcome financial constraints that may be prohibiting you from studying overseas.
Students interested must submit their applications to https://gilmanapplication.iie.org/ by March 2nd, 2021. If assistance for applications and program decisions are needed, the Education Abroad Office is here to help.
