CSEE Alumni Launches CourseLens to Simplify Course Planning
UMBC computer science alumnus and current cybersecurity graduate student Adam Baji has launched CourseLens, a course discovery and planning platform designed to make it easier for college students to research courses, explore professors, and make more informed academic decisions.
The idea for CourseLens began at UMBC after Baji saw how fragmented the course-selection process could be. Students often move between course catalogs, professor information, degree requirements, reviews, and conversations with other students just to decide what to take. CourseLens brings this information together into a more streamlined experience and uses AI to help students explore courses based on their individual academic background, interests, and goals.
CourseLens was the winning project of UMBC SGA's 2025 ProveIt! competition, receiving a $10,000 award. Baji later participated in UMBC's Alex. Brown Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation LaunchPad program, where he continued developing and refining the concept.
After more than a year of development, feedback, and iteration, Baji independently launched CourseLens in October 2026. The platform is currently focused on UMBC, with the broader goal of exploring how technology and AI can make course discovery and academic planning more personalized and accessible for students.
