Building Better Days (Tools for Daily Engagement)
The 80/20 Principle: Toward a Restorative UMBC
Understand how restorative practices shape the quality of everyday workplace engagement: Participants will be able to explain how restorative principles, including relational trust, mutual respect, and shared accountability, underpin the way we show up in daily interactions, and recognize the cumulative impact that small, consistent relational moments have on team culture, wellbeing, and belonging.
Commit to a restorative way of being as a daily professional practice: Participants will reflect on their own relational habits and communication patterns, and identify meaningful, sustainable steps to embed restorative values into the rhythm of their working day, building environments where people feel consistently seen, heard, and valued, and where conflict and disconnection are addressed early and with compassion.
Use restorative tools to navigate daily interactions with intention and care: Participants will demonstrate the ability to apply practical restorative tools, such as check-in and check-out practices, affective statements, restorative questions, and circle processes, to everyday workplace encounters, enabling them to respond to both positive moments and challenging situations in ways that strengthen rather than strain relationships.
