Gather & Paws: Exploring Secular Spirituality
Chat with Zack about finding the sacred in daily life!
This event is part of a new series co-sponsored by the Gathering Space with i3b, Residential Life, and UMBC Recreation: Gather & Paws! Join us for a variety of workshops exploring different ways to center and practice mindfulness, intentionality, and spirituality. These events are open to students, staff, and faculty, and many are led by staff and faculty partners looking to connect with UMBC and share their talents outside of their professional work.

An inclusive discussion for students interested in exploring the concept of spirituality and finding the sacred in their lives beyond the bounds of traditional religious frameworks. We will delve into "nontheistic sanctification", otherwise known as the process of something becoming sacred outside of theistic context; creating a space where the sacred is reimagined through mindfulness, personal experiences, cultural practices, and philosophical perspectives. Our discussion seeks to foster a deeper understanding of how sacred moments and feelings can arise in everyday life, from the arts and nature to human connections and introspection. This group is perfect for those curious about spiritual fulfillment outside of/in addition to conventional religious practices, offering a platform for sharing, learning, and discovering the profound in the seemingly mundane. Join us in this journey to uncover and celebrate the diverse ways in which we can experience and acknowledge the sacred in our daily lives, regardless of religious beliefs.
