UMBC's Community on Optimizing Mentoring Practices and Advancing Student Success (COMPASS) focuses on the craft of mentoring Ph.D. students as they grow into our future colleagues. There are several ways in which you can participate in COMPASS activities and one of them is the COMPASS workshops.
COMPASS Workshop
This workshop is meant for Ph.D. students and their faculty mentors. Ideally students will be at least a year into their Ph.D. work and getting close to starting their dissertation. This workshop has also been good for mentoring relationships that did not get off to the best start.
Workshop Agenda:
Noon - 12:45: Welcome and Lunch
1:00 - 2:45: Breakout sessions for students and faculty
3:00 - 3:30: Start discussing and filling out a "Sharing Expectations" document.
This semester we are offering this workshop at two different times:
Friday March 6, Public Policy Building, Room 451, 4th Floor
Please sign up here
Friday April 17, Public Policy Building, Room 451, 4th Floor
Please sign up here
