As previously announced, the State of Maryland's Department of Budget & Management Benefits Employee Benefits division has moved to a more secure SPS Workday login process effective September 10th. The SPS workday system allows employees to view and make changes to their health benefits.
This move to a multi-factor login process (OneLogin) will require you to create new login credentials using your existing SPS ID. It is vital for employees to create new login credentials outlined below prior to Open Enrollment in October.
Message from the Department of Budget & Management - 9/10/2020:
We have implemented a new login process for SPS (Workday). This login process will require you:
•To go to a new link,
•Set up a new password, and
•Set up at least one additional security method to log into Workday.
You will be able to select a method that works best for you—a one-time passcode via email or text, pass code through a mobile app on your mobile device or security questions. You must select at least one method, but can set up multiple methods. This new process is with OneLogin, and you may have experienced this kind of secure login process in other applications. This process gives SPS an extra layer of security for employee information.
You will need to complete this process as soon as possible, so as not to be delayed for the SPS Benefits Open Enrollment period in October 2020.
PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. YOU WILL BE LOCKED OUT OF YOUR ACCOUNT IF YOU DO NOT USE THE CORRECT PASSWORD.
#1 Visit new OneLogin link: https://stateofmaryland.onelogin.com/#2 Enter your SPS ID/W# (Your SPS ID can be found on your timesheet, POSC, and your myUMBC profile)#3 Enter the Temporary password* made up of the following digits (your current password will not work here):
- Capital first letter of your first name
- Lower case first letter of your last name
- 4 digit birth year
- Last 4 digits of your social security number
- End by entering $ (the dollar sign character on your keyboard)
*Temporary Password Example:
For employee John Smith, birth year 1960, last 4 digits of his SSN 8567Password is: Js19608567$
If you have issues with your initial login, please check your SPS ID/W# and the temporary password configuration immediately. This is where the most common problems occur. (Please see the following SPS Workday One Login Tips)
Once you have logged in, you can use the following Quick Reference Guide for the next steps and detailed information about this process.
After you have successfully logged into SPS (Workday), you must change your Favorites or Bookmark for the SPS Workday link to the new link listed in #1 above. The Quick Reference Guide has instructions for this as well. Once you use OneLogin to access SPS (Workday), please continue to use this login process for the SPS Benefits Open Enrollment period or any other SPS Benefits changes moving forward.
Please email hrbenefits@umbc.edu for questions regarding SPS Workday.
