Teaching in the Time of COVID: Keepers and Takeaways
Friday, May 7, 2021
10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
On Webex
Last May, we gathered to discuss teaching “hits and misses” after about two months of teaching online. Now, we are taking time to reflect on more than a year of remote instruction--a year of stress and trauma and also innovation, compassion, and flexibility. Teaching in the time of COVID invited many of us to radically and permanently reconsider our pedagogy. As we look forward to returning to in-person instruction, we invite you to reflect on and share the “keepers”-- ideas you know you’ll implement in future courses -- and takeaways from teaching remotely.
Please join us on Friday, May 7th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Webex for a conversation facilitated by HTLab director Lindsay DiCuirci.
Questions we will consider:
- How has a year of online teaching changed your pedagogy?
- How will your pedagogy be more equitable, inclusive, and accessible after this year?
- What did you learn about yourself and your students that will inform in-person instruction in the future?
- What strategies, tools, or pedagogical philosophies will you carry into in-person instruction?
- What have you gleaned from Humanities Teaching Labs or other pedagogy workshops this year?
We want to hear from you! Please fill out this brief form to help guide our discussion.
Following the lab, we will share resources on the HTLab Resources page.
Please register here for this HTLab. The Webex link will be sent two days prior to the workshop. Questions? Contact Ally Kocerhan, Inclusion Imperative Associate: alko1@umbc.edu. If you are unable to attend, but would like to access a recording of the workshop, please contact Ally Kocerhan.
