- Advocating for the interests and concerns of graduate assistants to the relevant administrative committees and decision-makers.
- Facilitating communication between graduate assistants and the administration to address issues related to employment, benefits, and working conditions.
- Organizing and leading meetings and initiatives to gather feedback from graduate assistants and address their needs.
- Facilitate Meet and Confer sessions.
LCC Chair (Legislative Concerns Committee): The LCC Chair is responsible for leading the Legislative Concerns Committee, which focuses on monitoring and addressing legislative issues affecting graduate students. Responsibilities include:
- Center for Democracy and Civic Life (CDCL), Office of Government Relations and Community Affairs (OGRCA), Neighborhood Relations Group (OGRCA), external coalitions
- Provide communications updates on current legislation of interest to the graduate student population
- Promote election registration and voting among eligible UMBC students
- Promote UMBC graduate student political participation at the local, state, and federal level.
